IM course: Beach cleanup on a field trip
As a field trip for the IM course, a beach cleanup was held at Hakoishihama Beach.
The cleanup was held shortly before the beach season, so it was before the government had started cleaning up the beach. The students had usually only swum in well-cleaned beaches, but the amount of marine debris on the beach before the cleanup was more than they could have imagined. It was a very valuable experience for the students, who will be responsible for the future, to actually experience the harsh current situation.
On the other hand, the experience of spending time together outside for the first time in a long time under the corona situation was also a pleasant memory. As the high school students were going to do a beach cleanup, people from the local community association served us curry. It was a good memory of the summer.
