Educational Excursion “Edventure” to Learn Japanese Culture (February)
At our school, we offer an educational excursion program for international students staying with us, designed to help them learn about Japanese culture through hands-on experiences. This program is called “Edventure”—a combination of Education and Adventure.
Through this initiative, students are given opportunities to deepen their understanding by directly experiencing Japan’s culture and history.
The February Edventure took place during the season of Setsubun, a traditional Japanese event that celebrates the coming of spring. During Setsubun, people throw roasted soybeans to drive away evil spirits and welcome a new season.
On the day of the excursion, students visited Yasaka Shrine and participated in a traditional bean-throwing ceremony. Afterwards, they tried making their own original folding fans, enjoying a hands-on experience with Japanese traditional crafts while creating a memorable keepsake from the trip.
The group also visited Kiyomizu-dera Temple, where they were able to fully experience Japan’s traditions and culture through its historic architecture and scenic surroundings.
