JH: Taiko and Japanese dance recital

On Tuesday, May 30, first-year junior high school IPC students gave presentations on taiko drumming and Japanese dance. The Japanese dance performance was given by Shizuki Fujikage, the third generation head of the Fujikage School, who was also awarded the Commissioner for Cultural Affairs, and the taiko performance was given by the taiko drumming circle "Uzu" which performs mainly at community centers in Uji City, for a total of 6 sessions over 12 hours. The students were able to show the results of their practice to their parents and fellow students of their grade.

This initiative has been ongoing since the beginning of Ritsumeikan Uji Junior High School, with the aim that learning about traditional Japanese culture is necessary in this age of globalization. All of our junior high school graduates have experienced this program.
