Ceremony and special events to commemorate the 155th anniversary of the founding of Ritsumeikan and the 125th anniversary of the founding of the Academy to be held on Saturday, October 18 at Kyoto International Conference Hall!
The Ritsumeikan Academy, which was originally founded by Kinmochi Saionji’s secretary Kojuro Nakagawa as the Kyoto Hosei School, is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year. On Saturday, October 18, 2025, a ceremony to commemorate the 155th anniversary of the founding of Ritsumeikan and the 125th anniversary of the founding of the Academy will be held at the Kyoto International Conference Hall (Sakyo-ku, Kyoto City).
At this event, visitors will experience the Ritsumeikan Academy’s commitment to becoming a next-generation research university and a next-generation academy rooted in inquisitiveness as well as its efforts to pave the way to the society of the future through the creation of new value and the resolution of global issues.
We have been accepting applications for participation since June 2025, and we look forward to seeing you at the commemorative ceremony. Please be sure to put this date in your calendar!

- Ritsumeikan University Alumni Association’s All Ritsumeikan Alumni Association Gathering
Once a year, the All Ritsumeikan Alumni Gathering is held to bring together alumni from all over Japan, and this year it will be held to coincide with the anniversary ceremony.
This event provides alumni with an opportunity to reunite with old friends and meet new ones.
Continuing from last year, the Alumni Association is also planning to hold seminar and circle reunions at the same venue. - Class of 2019 Reunion Commencement Ceremony for students who graduated in March 2020
We will hold the AY2019 Commencement Ceremony and Graduate School Completion Ceremony that we were unable to hold in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This special event will offer our graduates an opportunity—now five years later—to reflect on their memories and reunite with friends from their time at Ritsumeikan as they look ahead to the future. - Bridge to the Future
This event aims to provide an opportunity for young alumni who participated in special programs at Ritsumeikan to join current university and affiliated school students, fostering interaction and the creation of new connections (nodes). - Kinmochi Saionji Exhibit in Kyoto
We will hold the Kinmochi Saionji Exhibit that is scheduled to be held in Tokyo from late September to early October on the day of the ceremony in Kyoto. This exhibit will provide visitors with a glimpse into the life of Kinmochi Saionji and the history and traditions of Ritsumeikan. - Next-Generation Research Seminar
We will hold a seminar featuring talks from Ritsumeikan's leading researchers. This event will acquaint visitors with the cutting-edge research initiatives that Ritsumeikan is undertaking. - TanQ Park: Exploring Ritsumeikan’s Research and Inquiry-based Learning
A collaborative initiative among various stakeholders including Ritsumeikan University’s research centers, APU, and the inquiry-based learning programs at the affiliated schools, this event will allow visitors of all ages to experience Ritsumeikan’s efforts toward becoming a next-generation research university and a next-generation inquiry-based learning academy.
