On Thursday, April 25, an agreement signing ceremony with O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) was held at Ritsumeikan University's Suzaku Campus. With the signing of the student exchange agreement, JGU becomes Ritsumeikan University’s first student exchange partner in India. The agreements were signed by JGU Vice Chancellor C. Raj Kumar and Ritsumeikan University President Yoshio Nakatani.

The other attendees from JGU were Professor Mohan Kumar (Dean, Strategic and International Initiatives and Director, Jindal Global Centre for G20 Studies), Professor Kathleen A. Modrowski (Dean, Jindal School of Liberal Arts & Humanities), Professor Padmanabha Ramanujam (Dean, Academic Governance and Student Life), Professor Upasana Mahanta (Dean, Admissions and Outreach), Professor Vesselin Popovski (Vice Dean & Executive Director, Centre for the Study of United Nations), and Professor Akhil Bhardwa (Associate Dean and Director, Office of International Affairs & Global Initiatives). Ritsumeikan University Professor Sachio Nakato, Vice President and Dean of International Affairs, emceed the ceremony.

In his greeting, JGU Vice Chancellor Kumar expressed his expectations for the two universities to develop cooperative ties, "Like Ritsumeikan University, O.P. Jindal Global University started out as a law school, and it is now recognized as one of India’s strongest universities in the humanities and social sciences. I feel that we have an affinity with Ritsumeikan University.”

Next, after touching on the fact that Ritsumeikan University students will finally be able to go on long-term study abroad In India, President Nakatani remarked, “We are very much looking forward to welcoming outstanding exchange students from O.P. Jindal Global University to our campus to learn together with our students.”

Going forward, Ritsumeikan University will promote exchange at the undergraduate level based on this new partnership with JGU in addition to the graduate-level exchanges it is undertaking with existing partner institutions in India.
