Associate Professor Daniel Saucedo from the College of Policy Science participated as a panelist at an international workshop held at the Italian Pavilion during the Osaka Kansai Expo 2025
On Saturday, July 12, 2025, the International Workshop on Gastronomy and Rural Tourism: Rural Tourism as a Response to Overtourism—A Comparative Perspective was held at the Italian Pavilion's Auditorium during the Osaka Kansai Expo 2025. Associate Professor Daniel Saucedo participated as a panelist and delivered a speech titled “Historical Roads as Cultural Resources in Japan: The Potential of Community-Based Initiatives.”
This workshop was organized by the University of Bergamo in Italy, which has a student exchange agreement with the College of Policy Science. Along with Associate Professor Saucedo, Professor Yo Tabayashi and two students involved in the exchange program with the University of Bergamo also participated from our college. Associate Professor Cristian Pallone, who oversees the partnership with the College of Policy Science at the University of Bergamo, served as the moderator and engaged in discussions with the participants.
For the participating students, the event provided a valuable opportunity to further cultivate their cultural and intellectual curiosity, as well as their motivation to learn. They attended the English workshop on tourism in Japan and Italy, engaged in interactions in Italian, and visited the Italian Pavilion.
Student exchange between Ritsumeikan University and the University of Bergamo is also scheduled for this academic year. We sincerely thank the University of Bergamo for offering such a valuable opportunity, and we hope this partnership will continue to grow and thrive for many years to come.
