Institute of Disaster Mitigation for Urban Cultural Heritage

The cultural heritages that have taken root in local communities and the historical cities that surround them are a crystallization of human cultural activity. They are resources shared by society, and once lost, they can never be reproduced again. We who are living today also have a responsibility to maintain the cultural value inherited from our ancestors, protect it from the threat of disaster, and pass it down to the next generation. Institute of Disaster Mitigation for Urban Cultural Heritage views the reduction of disasters as culture. The Institute partners with local communities, cultural heritage workers, government agencies, companies, and NPOs, etc., to draw upon the traditions that embody the wisdom of our ancestors as well as the latest technology, in its efforts toward urban development that protects history from disaster.
