Institute of International Relations and Area Studies
Since its founding in 1989, Ritsumeikan University Institute of International Relations and Area Studies has continued to conduct research from a multidisciplinary perspective regarding issues that are vital for the sustained development of the global economy and the building of permanent peace in the international community.
In particular, since the beginning of the 21st century, the Institute has narrowed its focus on East Asia, which has continued dizzying growth amongst the world's regions, and conducted proactive research activities. These activities have garnered the Institute high praise both inside and outside the University as a site for research on Asia. In the future as well, the Institute will strive for more theoretical depth in area studies while at the same time widely transmitting as research outcomes solutions to problems with a basis in careful analysis of actual circumstances.
