Message from Dean regarding the Spread of the Novel Coronavirus Infection

Dear All students of the College of Policy Science,

As you know, the novel Coronavirus infections are spreading around the world, including Japan. Under such circumstances, Ritsumeikan University canceled the graduation ceremony and entrance ceremony.

For about one month after the beginning of the Spring Semester in 2020, instead of face-to-face classes in the classroom, classes will be conducted using the academic website ("manaba + R") in many subjects or other online systems.

To prevent the spread of infection, please wash your hands and gargle in your everyday life. Please take care of your health. When you do not feel well, please stay home. Avoid gathering tightly in one place and talking to each other within reach. When you need to get together, keep some distance from each other, and make sure the ventilation of the room.

Since classes will take place by using "manaba + R" in many subjects for new and current students for the first time, you may feel confused and uncomfortable. However, please understand that this is a necessary measure to prevent the spread of infection on campus.

Meanwhile, you will have more self-study time in many classes using the "manaba + R," compared with regular face-to-face classes. Taking advantage of this situation, I would encourage you to acquire the ability to "research," "consider," and "write" by yourself under the guidance of professors in charge of each subject.

In your efforts to study, our faculty and staff at the College of Policy Science will do everything possible to support you. If you have any questions, feel free to ask us anytime.
