【IMPORTANT】Notes for “International Student Admissions”

“International Student Admissions” are only for those who live outside of Japan at the time of application and cannot visit Ritsumeikan University to take an entrance examination.

Even those who live outside of Japan, however, are ineligible to apply if they meet any of conditions 1 to 3 below.
1. Those who graduate university in Japan within one year of the time of application.
2. Those who have a valid Japanese Residence Card at the time of application or those who have a Japanese Residence Status greater than three months in length.
3. Those who do not plan to newly obtain the Japanese Residence Status of 'student' in order to enroll in the graduate school.


Here are notes for those who being enrolled in a Japanese language school in Japan.

A. I am currently taking classes online.  No plan to enter Japan until enrolling GSISE.
If you have a CoE (Certificate of Eligibility) issued from your Japanese language school, please return it to the school.
If we confirm that you return the CoE, you may apply for the “International Student Admissions”.

B. I will enter Japan to go to a Japanese language school before enrolling GSISE.
According to “3. Those who do not plan to newly obtain the Japanese Residence Status of ‘student’ in order to enroll in the graduate school.”, you are NOT allowed to apply for the “International Student Admissions”. 
After entering Japan, please apply for “Regular Admissions”.

 C. I live in Japan now, but going back to my home country during application period.
You are required to submit a document which proves that you are back in your country during application period such as immigration record report.  If we confirm you revoke your Japanese Residence Status and not going to enter Japan before enrolling the graduate school, you may apply for “International Student Admissions”.

D. I live in Japan.
If you live in Japan at the time of application, you can NOT apply for “International Student Admissions”.
In case such person applies for the International Student Admissions, we might ask for submitting an additional document such as immigration record report.

If any false information or forgeries are found, your application will be revoked. If such found after screening, your enrollment to the graduate school will be revoked.
Those who live in Japan, please apply for “Regular Admissions”.
