KIDO Hideki Professor

Profile

Born in Kanagawa Prefecture and grew up in the Kansai. Obtained BA, MA and Ph.D. in Political Science from Kyoto University. Studied at University of Toronto for two years (MA in Political Science). I worked for the Toyonaka Institute for Urban Management, Nara Prefectural University, and Kyoto Women’s University before joining the faculty of Ritsumeikan University in 2023.

educational interests

Earlier, my research interests lay in Japan’s decentralization reforms and municipal mergers in the Heisei period. Currently, I am studying the relations between Canada’s federal government and provincial governments, focusing on how these governments are connected through political parties.

I welcome students who are interested in a wide range of social phenomena relating to the public sector in both developing and developed countries from political science.
