To those who are considering to attend our Graduate School

Applicants (English-based) must consult with their prospective academic advisors before applying to the Graduate School of Policy Science.

At the Graduate School of Policy Science, the email addresses of the faculty members are not made open to the public. Please inform the administrative office regarding your choice of faculty member in advance. The administrative office will transfer your message to each faculty member accordingly.

Searching for the backgrounds of the faculty members
Firstly, please search for the name of the faculty member of the Graduate School of Policy Science in the academic database below. Please read their papers and other materials to understand each member’s research topic and discipline.

If you would like to discuss which professor should be your academic supervisor, please fill in the name(s) of the faculty member or leave it blank in: 6). Please indicate this in 9) and send it to us.

The Associate Dean of the Graduate School will consult with you.

In principle, Professors and Associate Professors provide direct guidance to master program students, while Fixed-term Teaching Staff (“Tokubetsu Ninyo” Professor and “Tokumei” Professor) assist with guidance in the same research areas; however, there are some of the Fixed-term Teaching Staff who can provide direct guidance. We ask that you please consult the administrative office in advance for details.

In principle, only Professors provide direct guidance to doctoral students, while Associate Professors and Fixed-term Teaching Staff (“Tokubetsu Ninyo” Professor and “Tokumei” Professor) assist with guidance in the same research area, however, some of the Fixed-term Teaching Staff are able to supervise doctoral students directly.

Starting with students enrolled in the spring semester of 2024, direct guidance of doctoral students can also be provided by Associate Professors. For more information, please contact the administrative office in advance.

Please note that Assistant Professors cannot be your supervisors in the graduate school.
