Using statistics, participant observation and narratives to examine the fate of ordinary people being marginalised by development. In previous studies, Drawing on nearly 20 years of development aid business and research experience in Indonesia, Cambodia and Timor-Leste etc, I have analysed the process by which development aid, foreigin direct investment / capitalist penetration (=/globalisation) have marginalised the lives of ordinarly people in underdeveloped societies through Wallerstein's Modern World System.

Career

I have worked in the various Developmenmt Business, including a local and international NGOs, JICA expert, and took senior positons of the UN System, including Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO). To date, as a development consultant, I am still involved in aid business with JICA, UN and counterpart governments.

I have carried out various research as a visiting researcher for BRIN (Center for Population and Manpower Studies, Indonesia) and a Australian National University (Demography Department, Research School of Social Sciences) prior to take up a tenure post as Associate Professor of Ibaraki National University. I have been a Professor of Ritsumeikan University College of Policy Science since AY2013.
