Michiya Mori is a Professor of Political Science at Ritsumeikan University. He received his B.A. from the College of Policy Science, in 1998 and earned his M.A. and Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Policy Science at Ritsumeikan University in 2000 and 2003, respectively. Prior to joining the College of Policy Science, Ritsumeikan University, in 2019, he dedicated himself to working at the Faculty of Law, Kagawa University, and the Graduate School of Public Policy, Ritsumeikan University.

He became interested in environmental politics as a graduate student and has pursued this theme ever since. Recently, he participated in joint research on major earthquakes, such as the Great East Japan earthquake in 2011, and party politics in Japan. Following those academic experiences and exploring theories and models that help deepen understanding of political and policy processes, he has since been studying how bureaucrats and politicians relate to the disposal of disaster waste and environmental politics in Japan, broadly. He teaches courses such as “Political Process,” “Policy Formation Process,” “Introduction to Policy Science” (in part), and “Special Lecture (in Ibaraki City),” among others.

The world we see or desire to see is only a limited part of the entire world. Therefore, we should broaden our perspective on the world while acknowledging our limited understanding of it.
