Profile

I was graduated from the University of Tokyo (BA in Law) and the University of Cambridge (MA in Land Economy) and had worked for the Ministry of Home Affairs (currently the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications).

Research /
educational interests

My interests lie in systems of local government in general, in local public personnel system, in regulations on government officials’ conducts, and the role of neighbourhood communities.

(Local Government in General)

I am interested in the structure of the system of local administration, particularly powers of central and local governments and the matters related to resource allocation. In association with this, I am also interested in the ideal size of the municipality.

(Local Public Personnel System)

In association with the efficiency of the administration, I am interested in the kind of civil servants system that would work best in the situation.

(Regulations on Public Servants Conduct)

I am interested in the code of behaviour required for public servants including the public servants system before the War.

(Role of Neighbourhood Communities)

I am interested in the role of the smallest size local government like a parish in the UK.

I try to help international students by introducing them to relevant government agencies to gather information.

Message

I conduct research mainly on local autonomy and local finance. Previously, I worked for the former Ministry of Home Affairs (currently part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications). Based on this experience, I examine the situation of the current local government system in Japan and analyse the details. I also hope to introduce the advantages to foreign countries.
