After graduating from Trisakti University (Department of Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Technology) in Indonesia, he was engaged in the recovery and reconstruction project after the Sumatra earthquake under the initiative of the Indonesian government in 2006. In 2008, he was admitted to Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University Graduate School of Asia Pacific Studies (master’s course: international cooperation policy). After completing the course, he served as a researcher at the Office of Special Presidential Envoy on Millennium Development Goals of the Indonesian Government until 2012. He completed his doctoral course at Ritsumeikan University Graduate School of Policy Science in 2016, where, after acquiring the doctorate, he worked as a researcher at a private think tank as well as at Ritsumeikan University. During this time he was also a part-time lecturer at Ritsumeikan University College of Policy Science until 2020. Before his post at the College of Policy Science Ritsumeikan University in April 2020, he was also a visiting researcher at the Global Tea Institute, University of California, Davis.

The increase in natural disasters and the ecological impact on fauna and flora due to climate change have threatened people’s lives and the natural environment. It can be observed how climate change has caused agricultural damage due to drought and localized torrential rain, as well as increasing pest damage due to rising humidity. This has affected crops and may result in food problems if any measures are not taken. Analysis of the local natural environment and local social problems shows that comprehensive solutions are required to protect the agriculture industry from the threat of climate change. One of the approaches for this issue is through the research in introducing the characteristic terroir of respective rural areas (natural environment/ecosystem and traditional farming methods) with regards to the Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) and Nature-based Solutions (NbS), to formulate optimal climate change adaptation measures for each locality. It is very crucial to have a global mindset with a focus on the local perspective when developing climate change adaptation measures.

The College of Policy Science offers various specialized classes so that students can acquire extensive specialized knowledge. You can acquire a multi-faceted perspective through these classes, but first, you must identify your core values to find the goal of learning. I hope you will develop and deepen your expertise during your time learning at the university, as well as acquire diverse specialized knowledge. To effectively analyze social problems, you must develop a global mindset while also having a good understanding of the local perspectives.
