After graduating from Osaka Ibaraki High School, I entered Kobe University (Faculty of Economics) and acquired a Doctor of Economics from the Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies. Later, I served as a researcher of the Foundation for Advanced Studies on International Development (FASID), Hokkaido University, and The University of Tokyo to conduct surveys and research on international development. I served as an assistant professor and associate professor at Tohoku University before taking up my current post.

I am interested in the model of society and systems for improving the lives of people in various situations. I conduct research on poverty problems in Asia, including Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Indonesia, gender empowerment, and policy issues related to agriculture and food in Japan from the viewpoint of economics as “learning for governing a nation and providing relief to people.” In terms of education, I am mainly in charge of lectures and seminars for the CRPS major, which involves studying policy science in English. I also accept international students in the graduate school. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in international exchange. I hope to practice international cooperation through university education by offering opportunities to achieve personal growth through international experience.
