Symposium "Public-Private Partnerships and Municipal Policy: Current Status and future Challenges" was Held

On June 5, 2026, the Graduate School of Policy Science at Ritsumeikan University hosted a symposium, "Public-Private Partnerships and Municipal Policy: Current Status and Future Challenges," at OIC.

The symposium explored how local governments, private-sector organizations, and universities can work together to address increasingly complex social challenges and contribute to the development of sustainable communities. Participants discussed the evolving role of public-private collaboration from a variety of perspectives.

In the first session, speakers introduced the current state of public-private partnerships (PPP/PFI) in Japan and shared practical examples of collaborative initiatives undertaken by local governments, including the City of Ibaraki. The second session featured a panel discussion examining future opportunities and directions for cross-sector collaboration.

The event brought together local government officials, researchers, students, and members of the public, providing a valuable forum for knowledge exchange and dialogue through presentations and interactive discussions.
