This workshop was held in Ritsumeikan University Kinugasa Campus, on May 26, 2016, hosted by Ritsumeikan University's Graduate School of International Relations, the Ritsumeikan Global Innovation Research Organization (R-GIRO), and Institute of International Relations and Area Studies, Ritsumeikan University. Approximately 90 participants attended the workshop.

This workshop underscores that the existing security architecture in Asia that has conceived in the early 1990s - with ASEAN-led regional institutions engaging China and great powers are under severe stress. This situation, therefore, requires multiple conditions and strategies and a positive relationship amongst states in the region. So that there is no single condition suffices. This workshop identifies the challenges to the contemporary security theater in the Asia region. The workshop also offers a new approach called “Security Pluralism,” determines the how security pluralism and ecosystem in Asia can be implemented, and highlights the way how to restore stability in regional's security ecosystem.
