The President of Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology visits Ritsumeikan

On February 6, Professor Ahmed El-Gohary, the President of Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) visited the Ritsumeikan University Biwako-Kusatsu Campus. He met Professor Yoshio Nakatani, the President, Professor Shigeru Takayama, Dean of College of Science and Technology, Professor Yoichi Yamashita, Dean of College of Information Science and Engineering, Professor Takeshi Kikuchi, Dean of College of Life Sciences and Professor Jin Nagazumi, College of Sport and Health Science.

During the discussions about the progress of E-JUST main campus under construction, Dean Takayama introduced Safety Management System for Science/Engineering sections at Ritsumeikan University. The meeting also saw an exchange of views to explore the possibilities of collaboration between two universities, then the E-JUST team observed facilities and laboratories in Biwako-Kusatsu Campus.

In the next session, the E-JUST team showed interest in personnel management and staff development in Ritsumeikan. President Nakatani wished further development of E-JUST and mentioned the possibility to receive faculty and staff members from E-JUST as support for the human resource development in order to enhance the relationship.

E-JUST was established under the cooperation of the Egyptian and the Japanese government, and the Japanese Cooperating Universities including Ritsumeikan University and Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University have been providing support. Ritsumeikan University has supported the human resource development through several administrative staff trainings in the past, and Ritsumeikan has been involved in supporting enhancement of University Administrative Functions since 2017.
