During the discussion, Consul General Sutikno expressed her hope for collaboration by saying, "We would like to build on the roles that the Republic of Indonesia has played and the experiences it has gained in the international community in terms of human rights, democracy, and peacebuilding in strengthening bilateral ties with Japan and promoting inter-university exchange.” She also presented her vision for global collaboration with Ritsumeikan with an eye on 2023, the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Indonesia.
Executive Trustee Yamashita introduced the progress being made in terms of cooperation between universities and research institutions in both countries in the areas of education, research, and student exchange, and he expressed his aspirations for strengthening cooperation so that further synergies can be generated.
Ritsumeikan University is conducting various educational and research activities in collaboration with universities and government agencies in Indonesia, including bilateral student exchange on international PBL programs, the acceptance of graduate students under the Indonesia Linkage Program (which is funded with yen loans), and the acceptance of training missions from Indonesia’s National Development Planning Agency (BAPPENAS). We look forward to further strengthening our ties with Indonesia.
