Ritsumeikan Places 641-650 in QS World University Rankings 2025 and Third among Private Universities in Japan

On June 5, 2024, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a British university evaluation organization, released the QS World University Rankings 2025, and Ritsumeikan University was ranked 641-650 in the world, making us the third highest ranking private university in Japan.

The QS World University Rankings have been published annually since 2010, and this year 5,663 universities from 106 countries and regions were subject to evaluation, including 1,503 that ranked. The rankings are based on evaluations of nine indicators, including academic reputation, employer reputation, and the number of citations per faculty member. Ritsumeikan University was ranked 641-650 overall, and despite more intense competition due to an increase in the number of participating universities, we placed in the top 15 in Japan.

In terms of the per-indicator evaluations, Ritsumeikan’s highest placement was 148th in the world (12th in Japan) in employer reputation, followed by 371st in the world (14th in Japan) in sustainability, and 505th in the world (4th in Japan) in international faculty ratio.
