Research Activities R-GIRO Research Programs
To realize its founding philosophy, the Ritsumeikan Global Innovation Research Organization (R-GIRO) has been promoting its research activity that consists of three phases: the First-Phase R-GIRO Research Program for Specific Research Areas launched in 2008, the Second-Phase R-Giro Research Program for Center of Excellence (COE) Formation launched in 2016, and the Third-Phase R-Giro Research Program for COE Formation launched in 2016.
Assessment of R-GIRO Research Program
The progress of research projects implemented under the R-GIRO Research Programs is evaluated based on stringent assessment criteria.
- Assessment of a periodic report
- Each project is required to submit a biannual report on its research progress and achievements for the R-GIRO Steering Committee’s assessment.
- Assessment of an interim report
- After a certain period of time passes after the commencement of research, an internal assessment committee makes an interim assessment (documentary examination and interview) to determine whether projects should be continued.
- Assessment of completed projects
- After its completion, a final assessment of each project is made by an internal assessment committee to evaluate the results of the project.
