Human Resource Development Rice Ball Seminar

The Rice Ball Seminar is designed for Ritsumeikan University’s faculty and staff members, young researchers (post-doctoral fellows, research supporters, etc.), and graduate and undergraduate students to meet together during lunch breaks and have an opportunity to present their research results and exchange views and opinions over lunch. The Rice Ball Seminar was first held in 2007 as a place for promoting research exchange in natural sciences among faculty and staff members, and in 2010 a Rice Ball Seminar was also introduced for faculty and staff members in humanities and social sciences, in which faculty members present their research results. In light of R-GIRO’s mission to nurture young researchers, as proclaimed in its basic philosophy, the Rice Ball Seminar has recently served as an opportunity for young researchers to present their latest research results and promote exchange with researchers and students in other research areas. The seminar aims to promote interactions among researchers and students beyond disciplinary boundaries, eventually leading to promotion of research collaboration and facilitate interdisciplinary research activity.
