Program to Support the Submission of Academic Papers in Foreign Languages <Graduate Student Category>

Program Overview

This program is to encourage and prompt Ritsumeikan University graduate students to internationally disseminate their research results through research article publication in foreign languages except Japanese. This program will provide financial assistance for proofreading expenses (up to 50,000 yen per article) and submission expenses (up to 50,000 yen per article) that are required when submitting a manuscript to journals written in English (academic journals) and international conferences.

Grant Details

1) Grant Category

  • English Article Manuscript Proofreading Expenses: Includes foreign language translation and proofreading services, selection of journal for submission, peer review before submission, graphical adjustment for publication, and manuscript submission agent or similar services.
  • English Article Manuscript Submission Expenses: Includes expenses for submitting a manuscript to English-language journals and international academic conferences (e.g., article manuscript submission fees, article publication fees, online publication fees, open access fees, academic conference participation fees, separate printing fees, postal transfer fees, and remittance fees).

3) Number of Applications a Student Can Make

Once per academic year

※ For the same publication, application for both Proofreading and Submission Expenses is acceptable. The maximum grant-in-aid amount is 100,000 yen. You cannot apply for each program for different publications.

4) Eligibility

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Must be a graduate student enrolled in Ritsumeikan University (Graduate School’s regular course). Students on leave of absence cannot apply.
  • If the applicant has paid the proofreading or submission expenses while on leave of absence, they cannot apply for reimbursement after returning.
  • Must not have applied for this program in the same academic year yet.
