【Shogi】 Soichiro Kume Wins Third Place at the Kyoto Prefectural High School Cultural Festival
On Sunday, October 25, the 43rd Kyoto Prefectural High School Cultural Festival Shogi Competition was held at Kyoto Prefectural Momoyama High School. Soichiro Kume, a second-year student at our high school, competed in the Boys' Class A division (1st dan and above) and achieved an impressive third-place finish.
In the preliminary round held in the morning, Kume played three matches, finishing with two wins and one loss to advance to the final tournament in third place. In the afternoon's semifinal, he faced the opponent who had defeated him in the preliminary round, hoping for a rematch victory. Although he narrowly lost, he went on to win the third-place playoff, securing third place overall.
Kume has qualified to compete in the 46th Kinki Regional High School Cultural Festival Shogi Competition, which will be held at Nada High School on Saturday, November 14, and Sunday, November 15. We sincerely appreciate your continued support and encouragement.
