Natural environment survey at the local Shirakawa River in Uji

On Saturday, October 29th, the IB 1 and IB 2 students collaborated in groups to investigate environmental issues in Shirakawa, a local river ecosystem. For the IB 2 students, this was part of their Group 4 Project, a required collaborative component of the IBDP Group 4 classes. Each group identified a specific issue, planned and collected data at the river. For the IB 1 students, this was part of the Pre-CAS program. They supported the IB 2 groups and also collected litter in the area, some of which will be used for a creative art project. By engaging in this experience, students formed stronger bonds with their peers, engaged with environmental issues, and connected with the ecosystems and communities that surround our school.
