Pre-CAS Hike: Nara Takatori Mountain

On Saturday, April 22nd, the IB 1 students took on the challenge to complete an 11 km hike through the mountains of Takatori in Nara prefecture. This is a beautiful hike with some stunning views over the Yamato plain, and impressive historical sights including the ruins of Takatori Castle. In addition to the physical challenge of completing the hike, students were also challenged to serve the local community by helping to remove litter from the lower portion of the trail. It was great to see the IB 1 students take on this challenge so positively and to form stronger bonds with each other in the process. This hike was part of the IB 1 "Pre-CAS" program, which is designed to prepare students for CAS, the required extracurricular component of the IB Diploma.
