On June 17, 2023, the "2023 National High School Athletic Meet Judo (team competition) Kyoto Preliminary Round" was held at the Kyoto Budo Center, and our Judo Club won the women's team competition and qualified for the Inter-High School Championships for the first time in six years!

In the final, the team faced off against Kyoto Bunkyo High School, which was aiming for its third consecutive championship. The team's spearhead, third-year student Aika Miyamoto, won the match, while second-year student Rei Okubo, the center fielder, narrowly lost, and third-year student Wakana Takami, the captain, drew a draw to play the representative match. Aika Miyamoto was entrusted with the representative match.

The game could not be decided in the stipulated three minutes, so the game went into overtime using the Golden Score (GS) system. The game ended with Ritsumeikan Uji High School winning the championship for the first time in six years.

The players and coach Ikuta, who had reached the pinnacle for the first time in six years, shared the joy of their victory, embracing each other with tears in their eyes.

Following Miyamoto and Takami, who had already qualified for the Inter-High Schools in the women's individual competition, this was the long-awaited participation in the Inter-High Schools in the women's team competition!

We are looking forward to their success at the Inter-High School Championships to be held in Hokkaido in August.
