Ritsumeikan Uji IB Students Attend JEMUN

Between July 15th and 17th, 19 Ritsumeikan Uji IB students attended the Japanese English Model United Nations (JEMUN) at Kindai University. 18 students attended as country delegates and 1 student attended as a journalist.

JEMUN is a long running Model United Nations that allows students to learn valuable speaking, discussion, and debate skills with their peers. This year students from around Japan attended the event which had the theme of “How to respond to the rise of extreme heat around the world.” Students each represented a country and did extensive research into the effects of extreme heat and climate change on stakeholders in their assigned countries.

Over three days students gave country presentations, wrote position papers, and collaborated on a final document that represented the views and opinions of the entire delegation. In addition, our journalist student won an award for best journalist at the conference. Model United Nations is an important part of the CAS programs of many of our IB students and we look forward to attending JEMUN 2025.
