[SA Activities]Racing Karts - 4 Consecutive Wins with Wins in Both Rounds 5 and 6 of the All-Japan Championships! ~ [SA Activities

We would like to introduce the activities of our SA (Scholar Athlete & Artist) students.
Shota Fujii, a first-year high school student who is active in racing karts, participated in Rounds 5 and 6 of the All Japan Kart Championship 2023 held at Honjo Circuit in Saitama Prefecture on August 20, winning both races, and together with Rounds 3 and 4, winning four consecutive all-day races!

We asked Mr. Fujii, who has won four consecutive All-Japan Championships, to reflect on these races.

Round 5

I set an impressive top time in the time trial and got off to a good start from the top spot in the qualifying round. He dropped to 2nd place at the start, but set a steady pace behind the leader and overtook him on the last lap with his tires still intact to finish first. In the Super Heat, I was lapping well while paying attention to the life of my tires, but I was not able to make a good final pass and ended up dropping back to 2nd position. In the final race, he was able to pull away from the rest of the field from the second lap and win the race with a breakaway, which is very rare at Honjo Circuit where the straights are long and slippery.

Round 6

In the qualifying round, the pace of the top two cars was very fast, and in order to protect the life of the tires, the team had to settle for 3rd place. In the Super Heat, he was able to move up a position to finish 2nd while protecting his tires. This allowed him to start the final in 2nd place. In the final, I got into a breakaway position on lap 3, but the slip was working and I couldn't get away too much. In the last 5 laps, we had a little battle, but I was able to win the one-on-one battle to take my 4th consecutive win in the All-Japan series.

I was not used to the course and there was not much of a gap between me and the other drivers, so I had to fight with myself, but I am happy that I was able to take the win.

Impressions and aspirations

The Honjo Circuit was a very difficult course for me as a driver from the west because the main course is a four-wheel course and the roads are very wide. The next race will be the GPR at Mizunami, where I had a tough time last time, so I will do my best to get a solid result.

We are looking forward to seeing more of Mr. Fujii, who is riding a great ride and is in great shape.

We look forward to your continued support.
