19 Junior High School Students Circumnavigate Lake Biwa by Bicycle
Nineteen junior high school students took on the challenge of "Biwaichi." "Biwaichi" is a bicycle ride around Lake Biwa. This time, they cycled 150 km around Lake Biwa (North Lake) in two days.
The sun had set by the time we crossed Mt. Dokkeidake, and for the last hour of the first day we relied only on our lights.
On the second day, we kept pedaling our bicycles in the strong typhoon-like winds and made it back to the starting point, the "Cyclist's Sanctuary Monument.
The expressions on the students' faces over the two days were impressive, as they combined a sense of fatigue with a sense of accomplishment.
