Girls Tennis: Achievements at the 77th Kyoto Prefectural Junior High School General Sports Tournament

On July 26th and 27th, the 77th Kyoto Prefectural Junior High School General Sports Tournament for Tennis was held at Saiin Park Tennis Courts. The individual competition saw participation from two singles players and five doubles teams.
In the singles competition, despite valiant efforts, both participants were unfortunately eliminated in the first round. However, in the doubles competition, the pairs Sakurai and Ikeda, Matsubara and Iga, and Kato and Hasegawa made it to the top eight, securing their spots in the Kinki Regional Tournament.

In the team competition, the initial match was against Doshisha Women's Junior High School, which they won 3-2, advancing to the finals.

In the finals, they faced Doshisha International Junior High School, who had defeated them in the prefectural district tournament. This time, however, they emerged victorious with a 3-2 win.

This marked the first team victory in the Kyoto Prefectural Tournament for the girls' tennis team in two years.

On July 30th, the Kinki Junior High School Tennis Tournament, a qualifier for the national tournament, was held at Tsutsujigaoka Tennis Courts in Wakayama City. The team aimed for their first national tournament appearance in three years but unfortunately lost 0-5 to Hibarigaoka Gakuen Junior High School in the first round.

The girls' tennis team will next compete in the Kinki Junior High School General Sports Tournament on August 5th and 6th at Yamashiro General Sports Park Tennis Courts. For the third-year students, this will be their final tournament.
