Hish school 2nd Grade IG Course – Field Trip to Shigaraki
High school 2nd Grade IG Course Students Experience Traditional Industry in Shigaraki Under the Theme of “Learning from the Past”
As part of their off-campus learning, the 11th grade IG Course students visited Shigaraki with a focus on the “learning from the past” aspect of the Japanese phrase Onko-chishin (learning new things by studying the old).
(Note: Another off-campus activity is planned for this September 2, with a visit to the Expo 2025 site.)
The students gathered in Shigaraki after riding the scenic Shigaraki Kogen Railway through the countryside. At Soutouen, a historic climbing kiln studio, each student created a unique piece of pottery using 800 grams of clay.
The completed works will be glazed and fired at Soutouen, and are scheduled to be delivered around July.
