IB Year 1 Students Take Part in Pre-CAS Hiking Trip
As part of their Pre-CAS activities, the first-year students of the IB Course took part in a hiking excursion to Mt. Daimonji in Kyoto.
CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) is one of the core components of the IB Programme. It is designed to promote personal growth and social engagement through experiential learning that goes beyond academics. Students engage in the three areas of Creativity, Activity, and Service, gaining opportunities to apply their learning in real-life contexts and reflect deeply on themselves and the society around them.
This hiking trip was held as a Pre-CAS activity in preparation for full-scale CAS experiences that will begin in January next year. The students took on the challenge of hiking more than 10 kilometers through the Mt. Daimonji trail. As they walked together, enjoying the beautiful natural surroundings, they developed physical endurance and a strong sense of teamwork. Reaching the summit and taking in the panoramic view of Kyoto provided a sense of accomplishment that cannot be gained in the classroom.
Blessed with clear weather, the students had a fulfilling and memorable day. Through this experience, they are expected to approach their future CAS activities with greater enthusiasm and commitment.
