On Wednesday, June 4, we held an information session on the American University – Ritsumeikan University Joint Degree Program (JDP). A total of 16 participants—including junior and senior high school students and their guardians—attended the session, reflecting strong interest in the program.
The JDP is a unique academic program jointly offered by American University in Washington, D.C., and Ritsumeikan University in Japan. Students spend two years at each university, earning a single bachelor's degree in International Relations. By studying in two different countries, students gain a truly global perspective and develop deep intercultural understanding—key qualities for future leaders in international fields.
On the day of the session, the deans of both American University and Ritsumeikan University’s College of International Relations were present and provided a direct overview of the program, including its structure, curriculum, and career pathways. In addition, a recent graduate of our school, who had just returned from studying at American University, shared valuable insights based on their personal experience.
For all participants, it was a meaningful opportunity to hear firsthand from individuals directly involved in the program.
