IM Course Grade 12 Students Take Action for the Environment with Beach Clean-Up at Hakoishihama

On Monday, June 2, third-year students from the International Membership (IM) Course participated in a beach clean-up at Hakoishihama as part of their environmental studies program. The initiative aimed to foster students’ ability to think critically and act responsibly in response to global issues—particularly environmental challenges.

Working in teams, students collected over 12 large bags of debris from the beach. The waste ranged from small plastic fragments to larger items such as fishing nets and buoys. The activity served as a powerful, hands-on learning experience that highlighted the severity of pollution in less-visible areas and prompted students to reflect on how their own choices—such as the products they use daily—can significantly impact the planet.

More than just a clean-up effort, the experience encouraged students to connect environmental issues to their own lives and to recognize that their decisions shape the future. Many expressed a renewed commitment to adopting more sustainable habits and taking greater personal responsibility for protecting the environment.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the local community for their support in making this meaningful learning opportunity possible.
