Peace Concert and Talk by HIPPY
On Wednesday, July 2, singer-songwriter HIPPY was invited to give a live concert and a talk on peace for all junior high school students.
As we mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II this year, this event was initiated by the junior high student council with the belief that it is the responsibility of the younger generation to carry forward the memories of war’s horrors and the importance of peace.
HIPPY performed some of his most inspiring songs, including his well-known piece “Kimi ni Sasageru Ouenka” ("A Cheer Song for You") and his newly released track “Hoshi ni Natta Machi” ("The Town That Became a Star"), which was written to commemorate the 80th year since the atomic bombing. His heartfelt performance filled the venue with emotion and energy.
As a third-generation atomic bomb survivor and organizer of the monthly "Testimonies of A-Bomb Survivors" sessions, HIPPY shared powerful personal stories and messages that only someone with his background could convey. Through both his words and music, students were deeply moved, reflecting once again on the value of peace and gaining a deeper understanding of the tragedies of war.
