From July 25 to 29, 2025, at Hot Staff Field Hiroshima, the All Japan High School Athletics Championships (Inter-High) took place. Representing Ritsumeikan Uji High School’s track and field team, third-year student Waka Ashida delivered an outstanding performance, achieving the remarkable feat of placing in two events.

In the 1500m event, Ashida competed in Heat 4 of the time trial. She kept a cool head throughout the race, steadily advancing her position from the middle stages. In a brilliant final sprint, she climbed from 5th to finish 4th overall.

Time: 4:14.55 (4th Place)

This result is a testament to her dedication and relentless efforts in daily training — truly the fruit of her perseverance.

In the 3000m event, Ashida raced in Heat 3. She ran assertively from the start, joining the leading pack and securing 2nd place by the end of the first lap. After staying with a six-runner lead group until just before the 2000m mark, she was overtaken by two runners but maintained a strong pace to firmly claim 3rd place.

Time: 8:59.45 (3rd Place) — 7th Fastest Time in Japanese High School History!

This incredible achievement has served as a powerful inspiration for her teammates and brought immense pride and excitement to the entire school community.

Ashida’s outstanding results have echoed the name of Ritsumeikan Uji nationwide, offering hope and motivation to students, staff, and supporters alike. We look forward to seeing her continue to rise to new heights!
