International Students from Ritsumeikan Uji Share Heartwarming Moments with Kindergarteners in Akashi City

A Heartwarming Time of International Exchange Filled with Smiles and Tears

In mid-July, international students from our school visited a kindergarten in Akashi City, Hyogo Prefecture, where they spent a heartwarming time interacting with the children. This visit was made possible thanks to Mr. Kentaro Kawamoto, a former science teacher at our school who now works at the kindergarten.

The students, who hail from seven different countries, transcended language and cultural barriers to connect with the children through activities such as origami, drawing, and simple English games. Although the kindergarteners were initially a bit shy, they quickly warmed up, and the classroom was soon filled with laughter and smiles.

Although the visit lasted less than an hour, the farewell was deeply emotional—some children began to cry, which moved several of the international students to tears as well. It was a touching moment that reflected the depth and warmth of the exchange.

This visit became a valuable opportunity to foster intercultural understanding and a spirit of compassion. We hope to continue nurturing such ties with the local community while expanding future opportunities for international exchange.
