On Sunday, August 3, the Ritsumeikan Uji High School Brass Band and Cheerleading Team performed at the local community event “Enjoy! Ōkubo ~Summer Evening~”, held at Ōkubo Elementary School.

This event, hosted by the Ōkubo District Youth Development Council, was held for the first time in eight years. With many local residents eagerly awaiting its return, our students had the honor of opening the event as the opening act.

The brass band delivered a harmonious performance that warmed the atmosphere, while the cheerleading team energized the venue with dynamic movements and radiant smiles. The blend of music and performance created a welcoming, unified atmosphere throughout the venue.

Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, direct interaction with the community had long been limited. We are sincerely grateful to have received such a valuable opportunity for engagement this time.

For high school students, connecting with the local community serves as a significant learning opportunity to develop communication skills and social awareness. Through these interactions, students were able to feel the joy of connecting with others and understand the meaning of acting for someone else.

We will continue to cherish ties with the local community and expand opportunities for our students to shine.
