[Junior High School Baseball Club] Fighting as Teammates, Walking as Friends — Day 2 of the International Baseball Exchange

[Junior High School Baseball Club] Exchange Program with American Team – Day 2

On Saturday, August 2, the second day of the international exchange program took place on the grounds of Ritsumeikan Junior High School, where players participated in friendly matches and cultural exchange activities. The initial nervousness from the day before had melted away, and the field was filled with smiles and teamwork that transcended language barriers.

Becoming Teammates Through Baseball — Ritsumeikan United vs. Mixed Rookies Team
This day’s match featured a mixed team of our school’s third-year students and Rookies players against a "Ritsumeikan United" team composed of our first- and second-year students. The 1st and 2nd year players made decisions about player rotations and batting orders themselves, gaining valuable experience in leadership and decision-making.
They were also inspired by the Rookies’ powerful pitching, energetic swings, and the cheerful, lively atmosphere of the American-style dugout.

Lunch Break — Feeling Like a Major Leaguer
After the morning activities, everyone enjoyed lunch together in a cool room to cool down and relax. One highlight was when the Rookies taught our students how to eat sunflower seeds, a gift from the Rookies. It was a moment that made everyone feel like real major league players, adding fun and flavor to the exchange.

Afternoon in Arashiyama — A Relaxed Cultural Exchange
In the afternoon, the Rookies visited the Arashiyama district for a sightseeing program, accompanied by 13 volunteer students from our school. They were divided into three groups and explored the area together, enjoying conversations and experiences not possible on the baseball field.
This cultural exchange beyond the boundaries of sports allowed students to feel the bonds of friendship built through mutual respect, regardless of language or nationality.
