EXPO2025 Special “World Student Discussions”: Our Students Present and Speak on Global Stage
On August 7, 2025, the EXPO2025 Special “World Student Discussions (WSD)” event was held, where high school students from our school took the stage and gave a presentation.
What is the World Student Discussions?
WSD was an international event that brought together university and high school students from 32 countries and regions. This program was co-organized by Ms. Sachiko Nakajima, producer for EXPO2025, and the International Office of Ritsumeikan University.
WSD is an expanded version of the “World Youth Meeting (WYM),” an initiative launched in 1998 by the WYM Executive Committee with the support of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). It aims to provide a platform for producers, speakers, and students to think together about world peace, human rights, and the future of our planet.
The event welcomed the following guest speakers:
Professor Kan Suzuki (University of Tokyo)
Professor Hiroo Nakato (Ritsumeikan University)
Our Students’ Preparation and Participation
Our students began preparations in April, developing their proposals in collaboration with students from several domestic and international schools.
All presentations and discussions were conducted entirely in English. Because many of the participants had already worked together through the WYM and similar programs, the collaborative content of the presentations was profound and received high praise from the guest speakers.
Our school will continue to partner with educational institutions both in Japan and abroad to foster students' international outlook and practical communication skills.
