[Cheerleading Club] RAYCHERS Embark on First Overseas Expedition in Vietnam
From August 9 to 12, the cheerleading team RAYCHERS visited Vietnam for their first overseas expedition. This program was made possible through the support of Mr. Kanta Inoue, an alumnus of our school and former Scholar-Athlete Project member, who now runs a business in Vietnam. The visit featured a rich variety of activities, including cultural exchange, performance showcases, and local cheerleading instruction. The journey will also be featured in the local magazine "WALKING."
Event 1: Energetic Performance at JAPAN DREAM FESTIVAL 2025 (August 10)
On August 10, RAYCHERS performed at the JAPAN DREAM FESTIVAL 2025 held at AEON Mall Ha Dong. In addition to their solo routine, they performed a vibrant group routine with three cheerleading teams from universities in Hanoi. The venue was filled with applause and cheers for their passionate performance.
Following the performance, they hosted a cheerleading experience corner, where many visitors joined in with smiles, creating a warm and unified atmosphere. During break time, RAYCHERS also engaged in English conversations with local university students, exchanging skills and creative ideas. It was a valuable opportunity for mutual learning and inspiration.
Event 2: Smiles Connect Cultures – Cheer Workshop at Japanese International School (August 11, Morning)
On the morning of August 11, RAYCHERS gave a performance and held a cheerleading workshop at the Japanese International School. At the end, students were divided into three groups to create and present their own original routines. Despite language differences, non-verbal communication through smiles, movement, clapping, and cheering brought everyone together. Principal Noriyuki Yamamoto praised the event, saying, “Encounters with the real thing in education are invaluable. We were deeply impressed not only by the performance but also by the sincere and cheerful instruction.”
Event 3: Reflecting on the Future – Courtesy Visit to the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam (August 11, Afternoon)
In the afternoon, RAYCHERS paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam and reported their school and expedition activities to Ambassador Naoki Ito. They concluded the visit with a cheer performance and a rendition of “Greater Ritsumei.” Ambassador Ito commented, “Even in a group, each person will experience Vietnam differently. I hope you each create your own unique Vietnam story.” This message encouraged students to reflect on the importance of preserving and sharing their experiences.
Cultural Understanding Program: Learning through Culture – Visit to the Vietnamese Women's Museum
During the trip, the team visited the Vietnamese Women's Museum to learn about the historical and cultural roles of women and the lifestyles of ethnic minorities across regions. They were deeply impressed by the strength of women who uphold their communities and traditions. Despite cultural and language differences, the students felt a powerful connection through the values shared across borders.
Bringing Smiles and Energy to the World – Reflections from the Expedition
This expedition to Vietnam was a rich and inspiring experience for RAYCHERS, who gained valuable lessons through performances, teaching, international exchange, and cultural learning. They will continue to share smiles and energy with the world through cheerleading.
