Connecting Students and Universities Worldwide: The 3rd Kansai Regional College Fair Held at Ritsumeikan Uji

Ritsumeikan Uji High School successfully hosted its 3rd annual Overseas University Admission Fair, known as the Kansai Regional College Fair. This year, the event saw registrations from 125 universities and welcomed approximately 1,000 participants from both within and outside the school community.

Many university counselors traveled from overseas to join us on campus, where they shared valuable information about their institutions directly with students and parents. Alongside international universities, domestic institutions—including Ritsumeikan University and Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University—were also present, offering a unique opportunity to explore a wide range of higher education options both in Japan and abroad.

In addition, several organizations and companies that support international education and study abroad opportunities participated in the fair. Their presence helped to provide comprehensive guidance for students planning to study overseas. The event proved to be an enriching experience not only for Ritsumeikan Uji students but also for others in the Kansai area aspiring to pursue education abroad.

To support this large-scale event, 90 of our junior and senior high school students volunteered. Their roles extended beyond logistical assistance—they were each assigned to specific universities, offering direct support to the counselors and engaging with them on a deeper level than regular attendees.

Through this experience, student volunteers demonstrated strong initiative by thinking and acting independently, while also fostering collaboration as they worked closely with peers and university staff. This sense of responsibility and teamwork proved to be a powerful opportunity for personal growth. Their active contribution was essential to the event’s success and served as a shining example of how students are the driving force behind our school community.
