Junior High International Committee Takes on “Connected Support” — Sharing the Rwanda Prosthetic Limb Project at the Kofusai Festival

Our Junior High School International Committee presented their activities under the theme “Rwanda Prosthetic Limb Support Project” at the recent Kofusai Festival.

In June this year, we welcomed Mr. and Mrs. Rudasigwa from Rwanda and held a WOW program titled “Supporting Life — The Present and History of Rwanda’s Prosthetic Limb Project.” The couple has devoted 28 years to providing over 10,000 victims of civil war with prosthetic limbs and orthotic devices free of charge. Their sincere commitment deeply moved our students.

Inspired by this experience, the members of the International Committee decided to take action. At the Kofusai Festival, they introduced the “Mulindi Japan One Love Project” run by the Rudasigwas and sold support goods — Japanese tenugui hand towels. All the prepared hand towels were sold out, and the students were able to convey the significance of their activities to approximately 500 visitors and fellow students.

The students felt firsthand that “events in distant countries can be made personal” and “forms of support can start from our immediate surroundings.” The International Committee will continue engaging in exchanges and aims to expand this activity even further in the future.
