Australian Elementary Students Visit! Joyful Exchange with Junior High Students
On Tuesday, October 1, fifteen elementary school students from three schools in Australia — Virginia SS, Geebung SS, and Hamilton SS — visited our school. Through a variety of activities, they deepened their friendship with our junior high school students. One of the visiting schools, Virginia SS, was the host school for our 9th-grade students during their study trip this summer. The students who had stayed at Virginia SS took the lead in guiding the Australian guests around campus, happily reuniting with their former hosts. Their natural interactions showcased the bonds formed during their time abroad.
During the welcome ceremony held during LHR (Long Homeroom), the event opened with a warm performance by our brass band. This was followed by the presentation of school gifts and a quiz competition, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The visiting children then performed a lively dance, filling the venue with cheers and applause. In an art workshop led by one of our art teachers, they tried their hand at a traditional Japanese technique using silver foil and its sulfur-induced discoloration, showing great interest in the experience. After school, members of our international committee further engaged with the guests through traditional Japanese games like kendama and origami, deepening their cross-cultural exchange.
This day of exchange served as a meaningful extension of our summer study trip, allowing students to experience different cultures while building true human connections. We hope that such initiatives will continue to foster global understanding and friendship.
