IB Course Students Participate in CAS Hiking

In October, students in the IB Course took part in a CAS Hiking activity. First-year students hiked in the Konze Alps in Shiga Prefecture, while second-year students climbed Daimonji Mountain in Kyoto.

CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) is one of the core components of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. It promotes experiential learning that encourages personal growth and social contribution beyond academics. Through the three domains—Creativity, Activity, and Service—students connect their learning to real-life experiences and engage in deep reflection on themselves and society.

On the day of the hike, students challenged themselves to trails spanning over 10 kilometers. Immersed in nature and supporting each other along the way, they developed resilience and a sense of teamwork. Upon reaching the summit, they were moved by the stunning scenery and shared a sense of accomplishment that is hard to experience within the classroom.

We hope that the learning and shared experiences in nature will inspire our students to approach their school life and studies with even greater motivation in the future.
