Two Scholar-Athletes Promoted to the Kyoto Sanga F.C. Top Team
The Scholar-Athlete Project is a player development initiative driven by a partnership between Kyocera Corporation, Kyoto Sanga F.C., and Ritsumeikan. Now in its 20th year, the project aims to nurture top-level and professional football players.
This year, two third-year students in the project — Sonjun Yun and Kou Sakai — have been promoted to the Kyoto Sanga F.C. top team for the upcoming season. Notably, Yun has already begun training with the top team since August.
On October 25, 2025 (Saturday), prior to the J1 League match between Kyoto Sanga F.C. and Kashima Antlers, a press conference and a greeting to supporters were held at Sanga Stadium by KYOCERA.
Both players expressed deep gratitude to those who have supported them along the way and shared their strong determination to take on new challenges as professional athletes. Their confident and composed presence left a lasting impression.
We hope that their experiences and spirit developed through the Scholar-Athlete Project will serve as a foundation for their future success, starting with contributions to the top team and eventually reaching the global stage.
We sincerely appreciate your continued support for both athletes as they embark on their professional journeys.
