Ulinx Project Award Finals Held — 3rd-Year IG Course Team “Koji Biyori” Wins the Grand Prize

On Saturday, December 6, the finals of the “Ulinx Project Award” were held at Yumeria Uji.

A Platform for Presentations Organized by Alumni

This event was organized by Ulinx, a group formed by alumni who participated in the school's “Core Inquiry” program. The purpose of the initiative is to support current students' inquiry-based learning and provide a platform to showcase their outcomes, further enhancing the value of their learning experience.

Three Finalists from the School Qualifiers Compete in a Heated Battle

On the day of the event, three projects that passed the school’s preliminary round gave presentations in front of a diverse audience, including university students and professionals. Based on the audience vote, the team “Koji Biyori” (3rd-year students Kawamoto and Miura) was awarded first place.

Winning Project: “Koji Biyori”

“Koji Biyori” is a project that began with the desire to spread awareness of the power of koji (a traditional Japanese fermentation culture). The team collaborated with a local bakery to develop and sell koji-based bread, which earned high praise. Their ability to turn their inquiry outcomes into a real-world product and their collaboration with the local community impressed the judges.

A Valuable Experience to Present Outside of School

For the students, presenting their research in front of an external audience of adults was an invaluable experience. Receiving questions and feedback from university students and professionals provided them with new perspectives and boosted their confidence in their inquiry work.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Ulinx members and everyone who attended. We hope that opportunities like this will continue to deepen students' inquiry-based learning.
